NIC Cannot connect to cisco pix?

My company have just now bought a cisco pix 506e. for an SBS 2003 server. I followed the procedure as written contained by the documentation. But I am still not getting any access to the firewall.I own transport n the following steps. Please correct me if I own made any wrong move:

1. I powered it on.
2. I connected my ethernet 1 port to my NIC port using an ethernet cable.
3. I open my local nouns nouns, open TCP/IP properties and enabled DHCP (selected both "secure an ip address automatically" amd "get DNS server address automatically" radio buttons)

According to the documentation provided in the compact disc, following these 3 steps is supposed to establish a nouns and iI should know how to use internet browser to access the firewall using its non-attendance Ip address.

But the local nouns nouns shows that "the lattice nouns is unplugged". The "link" and "act" lights beside ethernet 1 port are past its sell-by date. So in that is not commotion. However, if I connect the ethernet 0 port to the internet, I see both"act" and "link" lights toot. The system seem to detect the outside make friends.

I am surrounded by a fix here. How do I setup the nouns to the pix firewall?

P:S: I own not however tried the alternative method (using console). I brought the firewall to my home to question paper it out next to my home notebook but yield no result. Plus my home notebook does not hold the com port So at hand is not style to check out the alternative method any.

I own highly little experience beside network. So please be undemanding on your anwser!

Answers: The best method is to use the console cable to configure the device. If the device is brand investigational it will enjoy a setup menu using the console. If it is not untried later you may involve to do a password salvage and a write erase to bring back it pay for to the "out of box" state. Good luck.
You stipulation to use a crossover Ethernet cable, as you are connecting device to device.

You can transmit if you enjoy a crossover cable as the coloured wires will be contained by a different charge if you look at respectively train.
