When I install the system shows my modem installed ok and com 1 functioning. On trying to dailup I win the message (there be a hardware disappointment contained by the modem or other connecting device) Please help

Go to control panel, via your start menu. Click on Phone & modems.Highlight your modem and presently click on the properties tab, select diagnostics and next enquiry modem.
If this give you the adjectives okay next it's not your modem. If it doesn't
try uninstalling it and next reinstalling it. and if it still won't work buy a PCMCIA or USB modem.
