What is FIRMWARE for my router..?

Would updating thet FIRMWARE be any lend a hand?

Seems similar to my router will assign matching IP to two computers..

If I manually set the ip to a static IP
I cant seem to be to find 2 XP computers hardwired into the router to connect to the internet simulatneously.

One computer, near a static IP will log onto the internet through my router no problem, by itself

The second computer, beside a static IP will NOT log onto the internet via a router! Even by itself..

Is near some setting in my router I enjoy to metamorphosis if I am using static IP's in the computers? I even tried to "allow" the
IP's and MACS and the length of IPs.contained by the router settings...

Do you guess it might be better to disable the dhcp settings.??
in the router??

I of late can integer this damn problem out!

How to I achieve the computer to PING the router?

Answers: Your router is appreciably within a discouraging state. forget firmware, if you download it to an already unstable router you may execute it. Use the reset as contained by the instruction manual to non-attendance everything. Set it up from gash using a cable to connect it. Do NOT use MAC address filter. If it is wireless check that you can access the internet correctly wired previously trying to set up the wireless. Set it up initially lacking encryption for carrying out tests. Set both machines to totally automatic tcp/ip property settings. Once both machines can connect correctly set up the wireless encryption.
Only use static IPs if your ISP requires it for the router. You should see the "obtain ip automatically" piece, and set your LAN ip extent up. Also, select "use router as dhcp server" that passageway it will assign ips to respectively computer that you connect. A computer doesn't own a set ip address, the MAC address is what is constant. Let the router set the computers ip. If adjectives else fail, walk to the businesswoman's website and check out the setup guides, should bequeath you an impression how to configure it.
Well the answer go close to this.

Firmware is resembling the configuration ,drivers etc for your specific router/switch device.

Say your router have an ip of 192.168.15.1
Then the efault gateway will be 192.168.15.1
Now you can see which ips are timetabled within your DHCP chronicle.
Like 192.168.15.5 to 192.168.15.30 a moment ago an example.
Find the end ip which is scheduled near and assign the subsequent IP address to your static IP contrivance. engineer sure also you dont own any ip conflicts
