Hi, I am curently running Windows XP Pro as a record server and own going on for 5 other computers that access files on the server. The server is uncommon by anyone, it is a dyed-in-the-wool directory server. Are they any tweaks I can do to XP Pro to allocate more resources to folder sharng and web deeds?

well you can optimize it for backround services instead or local interface underneath Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Performace > Settings > Advanced
Like the other guy said, try removing services that you don't want, another estimate you can do is check the Network Card and see if the trader enjoy some software to have power over the card
