My macbook pro cannot to internet near my linksys router so i settled to purchase airport extreme, very soon can i disable the wireless broadcast of antiquated router and bridge it next to airport extreme end station? My crucial purpose is to use the hoary router as stealth firewall because airport extreme can solely save the ports closed not stealth it.

Perhaps you can still connect to your Router, it might merely be a settings issue.
If you are using WEP on your WRT54GX4 and your Default Transmit Key is not set to (1) you will own problems near your Mac connecting to it. I hold found that the Wireless Interface on the Mac doesn't allow you to move this attribute. I used to use (4) as my Transmit Key and my Mac couldn't connect. As soon as I switched it to (1) everything connected up freshly fine...

Don't figure out why this is a problem. It is a upright router and should know how to support the Mac. I hold several customer element WRT54G devices connected to their Mac's. Just entail to set the computer to the correct interface.
Routers should be OS independant, I wouldnt put too much reliance within Stealth. The Aircap cards can sniff them out stealth or not, use WPA and a strong password.
