I own a want to host some network sites, and hold be trying to do so next to an evaluation copy of Server 2k3. And while I hold be competent to bring back more than a few simple sites up, I am have trouble doing anything advanced, approaching setting up a simple in and out bound communication server, or getting PHP script to run.
One pick I am considering is seeing if in attendance is a SIMPLE (meaning totally newby friendly) Linux build that might work.
Does anyone hold a opinion on a Linux build that would include a trellis server, post server and php compiler (or anything the appropriate permanent status is) that someone who have NEVER used linux could install, configure through some sort of restrained "wizard," plug source files into and next turn from near?

I use SUSE Linux, in reality 9.2, which is not a remarkably overdue revision, on my own and several clients' networks. I'd recommend trying the Ubuntu server. I haven't tried it myself (just Ubuntu Workstation), but Ubuntu is especially newbie-friendly and have suitable community support at the forums (which are at www.ubuntu.com).
Take any linux build, slap Apache on it, download php from the internet and earnings for a domain autograph. Voila! You own a net server.
