What is the EASIEST process to setup a Linux Web Server?

I own a want to host some network sites, and hold be trying to do so next to an evaluation copy of Server 2k3. And while I hold be competent to bring back more than a few simple sites up, I am have trouble doing anything advanced, approaching setting up a simple in and out bound communication server, or getting PHP script to run.

One pick I am considering is seeing if in attendance is a SIMPLE (meaning totally newby friendly) Linux build that might work.

Does anyone hold a opinion on a Linux build that would include a trellis server, post server and php compiler (or anything the appropriate permanent status is) that someone who have NEVER used linux could install, configure through some sort of restrained "wizard," plug source files into and next turn from near?

Thanks contained by credit!

Answers: I use SUSE Linux, in reality 9.2, which is not a remarkably overdue revision, on my own and several clients' networks. Each of these hosts at most minuscule one trellis site, adjectives of them run a trellis base database system, one of which is used to totally run a commerce workshop, including processing directions, hand out work schedule etc, from the conflicting side of the world. Using the Yast control tool it is highly jammy to set up the Apache pattern server, Windows server and client along near the postfix post server (I use this contained by conjunction near the Dovecot IMAP server and Squirrrelmail) and use in safe hands smtp unloading to immobilize the correspondence. If enjoy created user control databases which automatically set up allowed email users, authorisation for users to access their own parts of the site for admin, and in some cases control the access of Windows users to record services. It also have tge facility for software storming, although I would not contemplate this until you gain experience, but you could afterwards do a server re-install to incorporate it. The simply item I find it better to do manually while erudition the system is to copy the evasion Apache domain configuration to the /etc/apache2/vhosts.d directory, and consequently modify the individual domain configuration and accumulate respectively as a separate domain.conf profile, and include /etc/apache2/vhosts.d/*.conf so that I can create, modify and remove domains short risking other domains person artificial. If you opt to progress this route, contact me for any counsel.
I'd recommend trying the Ubuntu server. I haven't tried it myself (just Ubuntu Workstation), but Ubuntu is especially newbie-friendly and have suitable community support at the forums (which are at www.ubuntu.com).
Take any linux build, slap Apache on it, download php from the internet and earnings for a domain autograph. Voila! You own a net server.
