Most USB wireless adapters should come next to a driver, so its usually install, plug, and play. and unsurprisingly near some configuration to the access pt.
i've experience beside a linksys print server which wireless connects to my wireless router.
it requires some simple configuration on the printer server itself, later also installation of softwares/drivers in all the PCs in the introduce yourself that requirements to print beside that wireless see printer.
Question is not really clear, so I will interpret it my mode.
You would set adjectives of your USB unit to AdHoc mode. I see no specific idea why a shared printer would not work in that setting. I own never tried that, but seem average that it will work.
