Since your question is extremely nonspecific and not even coherent, am I correct to assume you haven't even started your own research?
Here are some interesting item you could look up and potentially write a great in-depth treatise.
1) Think give or take a few the physical aspect of the communication. One byte is 8 bits. To transmit this within parallel style, you entail at least possible 9 wires (8 signal + 1 common) To do this serially, you want two wires. (1 signal + common). How does this impact the cost of effecting over a long distance? Conversely, for short hawl communication, how complex/simple does the hardware be for one or the other? How do you choose one from the other?

5) What roughly speaking standards? How do you demarcate what is ONE and what is zilch? Look up RS-232 and other a mixture of standards and discuss the advantages of have a standard. Also look into how rs-232c standards are implement incorrectly and how this is a problem?
6) Think in the region of sender and reciever. DTE and DCE to be specific. How would you mark out who originate the communication and who is on recieving expiration of it. Can DTE have a word to DTE? How?
