Networked PC can't access internet?

I hold set up a 2 PC lattice using a crossover ethernet cable. I enjoy an ADSL modem I enjoy followed the microsoft instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp... to set up the sharing of the internet nouns. I hold manually configured the IP address. However, despite the reality that the lattice is set up and working, the client computer cannot access the internet or email. Why? I'm going nuts. The host computer have no problem access the internet but it's not trying to access it over the make friends.

Answers: Recheck the "Client" computer settings be sure that the web shows an IP, Subnet, and Gateway as very well as DNS (set to matching as Gateway IP) By defaulting that will be 192.168.0.1 beside ICS (just be sure your primary internet is not using that same address or you will requirement to correct your ICS settings to a different IP set and extent! MS forgets this surrounded by the tutorial they assume DSL will supply you a Public address and that simply isn't the travel case currently!)

IF the two computers are communicating, the issue have nought to do beside your cable!

Then be sure you set the "Client" to connect using the framework for Internet!
It should be the concluding set of instructions on MS Site.
But roughly click the Network and Internet connections and on Internet option be sure you told the piece of equipment to use an "other on broadband connection". That should seize you online.

Good Luck
Get rid of the crossover cable, and install a hub/router.
I would agree beside getting rid of the cross over cable and get a router. However, it could still be a laptop setting. Have you tried hooking up the laptop not pulling page directly to your dsl modem and try the internet? If you do that and it works, its something to do next to the crossover and after bring rid of it. If it does not work still, its more possible a workstation issue.
Surely you are better rotten near a router but if you are determined to try it beside ICS the intermingle below have a ton of network articles including ICS setup beside screenshots for different version of Windows.

An profit of have a router next to wireless is also the capability to use a USB wireless adapter on any computer to gain on the Internet, if your into monkeying around next to different elder computers. lacking have to install an ethernet card.
