"Connect on Demand: Max Idle Time 5 Min"?? wtf does this connote?

I see this on my Linksys router Setup page. There's 2 options

1
"Connect on Demand: Max Idle Time 5 Min"

2
"Keep Alive: Redial Period 30 Sec."

what should I save it on? what would it do if I set the max languish time to influence, 12hours or something?

Answers: nouns time...
If the Connect on Demand timer is used, set the meaning to at lowest 15 minutes, preferably 30 minutes or greater. If using the Keep Alive timer to assert the nouns 24/7, set the worth to 180 second. If the Keep Alive timer is set low, for example 30, the router can lead to a login dud or even a hung PPPoE session. At this point, remove power from the router and modem, dawdle five minutes, consequently restore power to the modem. Wait for sync later restore power to the router. If still powerless to connect, telephone the Fastaccess helpdesk and ask them to reset your queue.

When the PPPoE nouns is configured for Connect on Demand, any attempt to access the Internet will trigger the login process. From the Status pattern page, the nouns can be monitored, disconnected, and connected. In Keep Alive mode, the router will automatically attempt to connect after initialization. Plus it will attempt to connect after like greased lightning pressing the reset button, a settings devolution that rebooted the router, or restoring power.

I would hold my nouns alive. I'm assuming you're using an ADSL nouns next to fix sign-in. Having to reconnect every time you want to budge online, in my feelings, will become annoying after awhile. Keep in mind, though, the reconnect take conceivably two to three second, and relations can't hack your computer if it's not connected to the Internet (ie at hours of darkness or when you're out of the house).
You can either
1. Have your dial-up connect whenever you log onto the internet and how long you want the nouns to stay on if in attendance is no pursuit on the flash.

2. Have your dial-up stay connected to the internet even though you're not on...Not sure what redial extent is. it could anticipate, though, that to stay online, your line requirements to check for nouns to the internet every 30 sec. or whenever you approaching to set it.

Hope this help! ;-)
