Windows 98- Will i still be ok beside it?

Alright heres the rundown, im building another gaming laptop for the first time within a well-mannered while. Im wondering if i can run Win98 and still be ok near compatability near adjectives the hardware. Im planning on goin Core Duo, beside at least possible 3 gb hit ddr2 (prob goin up to 5 gb in the adjectives if nessary). Will Win98 support the investigational chipsets and DDR2 hit?

I know what some of u may be thinking. And no i dont plan on be connected to the internet, at lowest possible not right in a minute, this be a moment ago goin 2 be for playin single player, im not really into the MMO on the other hand, im too busy for that right in a minute.

I of late remember Win98 self approaching the best window to date, im not a window buff, but i really cant withdraw much hassle beside it, exp compared to (omg) WinMe and Xp and dont attain me started next to visa. Anyways i a short time ago want to hold on to it simple and tired of running into errors going on for 16 and 32 bit exception errors when im tryin to play my elder games i love, and current old-fashioned games ive never palyed b4. Thanks to adjectives.

Answers: IRT paragraph 1:
Win98 doesn't come in a 64-bit configuration, and so, 4GiB of RAM will be the most you can use.

IRT paragraph 3:
Not sure what you're getting at here. Yes, 98SE be a great OS and ME be crap, but XP would probably be your best bet here, and Vista works a short time ago fine. If you're worried give or take a few playing elder games, you can probably run them on a VM, but I would suggest simply partitioning the drive and have XP as your prime OS and 98 for dual-booting so you can play your elder games. I really wouldn't use 98 on new-age hardware. Driver support will be a throbbing surrounded by the ***.
Windows 98 from what I remember can't button that various system memory.

On top of that, you would hold to install the driver for the Core Duo. If driver can't be install in Windows 98 after adjectives sense update us that it will not work.
Dude no misdemeanour but running the Windows 98 on the configuration you are wise saying is close to running a HD blue sunbeam disk on a 10inch black and white CRT tv. You would be categorically be successful surrounded by installing the OS , but Windows 98 will not support duo core, so you might want to buy a Pentium 2.It will not support more than 2GB memory, so you might as powerfully forget bout upgrading it to 5GB.Instead of wasting your money on 5GB of memory which you cannot install in any shield, better buy Windows XP, which will be far better near the compatibility and gross your games run approaching a bullet.
