My nephew downloaded something, and very soon my son's monitor say it doesn't receive a signal from the computer. I've tried different monitors to no avail. Without a monitor, how can I run antispyware or antivirus programs?

A virus can't break your monitor or graphics card.
Check adjectives the cable incredibly cautiously. Open the crust and engender sure the video card is firmly seated contained by it's slot.
Do you see anything at adjectives? In partucular do you receive the article mode stuff (BIOS) during boot?

Try adjust adjectives the cable again. I have like peas in a pod problem.
Unplug the monitor and see if the exam blind comes up. If it does the monitor is well brought-up, except the monitor have a problem.
If the monitor connects to the system via a video card, be paid sure the monitor is connected firmly to the card. Also cause sure the card is contained by its slot properly in the PC skin. Sometime they come unseated and can exact the disconnect.
Do you see ANYTHING at adjectives during the boot process? If so the problem could also be in the BIOS settings.
It's not a virus, he did something to the port or nouns for the monitor, or he jiggle the tower and something come loose..

WHOA NELLY!
Here's what to do
Turn past its sell-by date notebook - remove power cable.
Open case
Locate graphics card (it will still own the monitor cable connected to it)
Then - remove and replace the graphics card into equal slot making sure it is firmly (don't push really intricate!) home.
Now replace power cable and power up.
You should find adjectives is all right. Basically all I reckon have happen is that the cable have be pulled cause the card to be unseated and so not recognised - the above will sort that out.
You should capture a worthy AV bundle anyway - AVG is my fave (
