I am using a 2wire router purchased from AT&T. I don't remember setting up a knob or password and don't know where on earth to look for a failure to pay switch or if I tried to put within a switch and don't remember it...

You can press the reset button on your router. You typically hold to do this near a broadsheet clip or something. This will erase your settings on the router allowing you to connect short a switch. You can also set up a strange push button subsequently.

I'm betting you will HAVE to enjoy the instruction book. Look online at 2wires website for it. In the book it will inventory the evasion surpass and sn.
