Both are suitable free anti-virus products. I own used both and they work all right in need one resource hogs.

I use two of them that I recommend. Both are free. AVG antivirus Free Edition (www.download.com) and Avast Antivirus (www.download.com) both of them are upright. I lean a bit more towards AVG. Its straightforward to use. only just download it, install it, update it (point to the internet and click other use this option) and next run the scan.
I also agree next to the poster above me. Stay away from Norton and if you hold McAfee installed in your system uninstall it. I hold recovered so several computers that be infected that have Mc Afee installed. I compare Mc Afee near a Security Guard that sleeps on the mission.
I recommend purchasing deposit suite (a/v, firewall) from a reliable trader such as mcafee... as long as you maintain your subscription up to date, configure the program properly to automaticaly install the updates, etc... later you should be fine... as long as you combine that beside upright browsing traditions and adjectives sense.

In my humble belief, I'd recommend two programs, Norton Anti-virus which updates massively frequently.
