does anyone know how to alter the lynksis nickname? when i browse for nouns i see my neighbors own their first name and such mine is call .. "lynksis" how do i chang it? and put a pasword

Assuming you're chitchat in the region of the popular WRT54G, here's how:
1. Log into your router's admin page by entering its local IP address (usually 192.168.1.1) into the address glass of a browser on a domestic device connected to the router via a cable. (Side rant: enable wireless access to a router is asking for trouble. See my Poster Child relationship below.)
2. If 192.168.1.1 doesn't work see the sidebar below more or less how to find your router's IP address.
3. Click on the Wireless page.
4. Near the top is the SSID. It should say-so LinkSys. Change it t o doesn`t matter what you want. Instead of using blanks, use underscore _.
5. Click on the Save Settings button at the bottom of the page.
That should do it.
Finding your router's local IP address:
1.Click on the Start button.
2.Click Run...
3.In the deed box, type within
cmd
4.A black "DOS box" windowpane will pop up. Type into it
ipconfig /all
5.A bunch of seeming gibberish will crowd the peak. On the vein subsequent to "Default Gateway" your router's IP address should appear.
