avast is by far my favorite, its free to home users and adjectives you hold to do is register after 60 days. pics up stuff norton symantec laptop cillin etc wont.
Ok I'll speak about you the full truth:
No antivirus is the best.
People tend to say-so that the one they use for the moment is the best surrounded by the world... until they procure infected.
the most adjectives used free antiviruses are AVG and AVIRA and both work fine.
Remember that if a modern virus attacks your computer none of the antiviruses will automatically discover it. Some scanners scan for heuristic code (code used mostly by viruses etc) but theres no method they can stop a non-reported current virus by defaulting.
Be wary, try different antiviruses and use your own judgement.
Well you are dreaming if you believe one software program/package will do adjectives of those things "the best".
For antivirus I'd recommend you go and get AVG Antivirus Free edition.
For spyware protection I'd recommend Spy Sweeper (it's not free and is $39.95 for the 1st year)
For adware/malware I'd recommend you carry AdAware Free edition
Those are the programs I run and I haven't have any problems contained by 2 years. They protect especially all right, update themselves, and alert you relatively conspicuously when they "suspect" something is detrimental.
