The other point that you can do is do a update install and regulation the password after or boot beside a live linux cd and fix the profile that mode.
Well, I've done little editing of this record up to that time (only once and it be extremely minor to revision the NSLU2 root password). I am not too sure if you can in actual fact cut this database from the OS itself. The instrument I edited mine once be by connecting the external HDD of my NSLU2 to my PC and doing the edit from near inside vi. I have to relocate permissions on the profile though.
If you decision to reset the root password of your install, boot into runlevel 0, you'll be automatically logged in as root, next only type
passwd
