Answers: An extended memory officer that have be included beside DOS and Windows, starting near DOS 5 and Windows 3.0. It allows programs to cooperatively allocate extended memory in 286 and greater PCs. HIMEM.SYS is an XMS driver. In Windows 95/98, HIMEM.SYS be automatically loaded at startup.

YOU SHOULD NOT BE SEEING THIS IN YOUR TASK MANAGER - Certainly not over and over (unless you've made a typo).. you probably are infected beside malware.!!

First, if you hold window system restore running...disable it for a moment...
then
Try doing a network base scan from http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/...
this should scna an remove it if it is virus of some giving (that includes trojan).

If it is spyware you can try spybot scrabble and verbs from here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index...
After you run those you should be OK

reboot and do another complete scan to be sure it's gone previously enable the system restre again.

I significantly recommend installing antivirus / firewall suite from a reliable merchant similar to mcafee and keeping it automatically updates and configured properly.

Good luck.
