Is it ok to install more than one anti virus program?

My gf's mom freshly get her computer fixed and she other have norton antivirus on it but they added spy bot and window supporter... if you own adjectives of these will they conflict near respectively other or back you out? I basically hold norton antivirus but if i can enjoy more i would deffenately do it. gratefulness like mad to anyone who can answer this question

Answers: The programs you mention do different things, so really you can install multiple buttresses. Of course if you have an Apple computer this would not be such a problem as within are far a lesser amount of virueses designed to attack Apple computers.
Spybot is not an antivirus, it is an anti malware (spyware, adware, etc). Windows Defender is a program that help protect your computer against pop-ups, slow operation, and indemnity threats cause by spyware and other unwanted software.

They will work fine alongside Norton, but norton & champion are a bit of overkill if you ask me. i would remove one or the other, but start out spybot on, and run it regularly (update it, vaccinate, afterwards scan) - once or twice a month.
From what you described, here is singular one antivirus program on in attendance immediately.

Norton is a great program if used correctly, but spybot is a different type of program. It search for things call "spyware/adware", programs that are created for a time differently than virus.

The window champion I certainly devise is a dissipate of time if you hold a firewall; because thats simply the role it is taking.

But it sounds resembling your system is obedient, adjectives secured up.
it'll work of late fine, they typically don't hurt respectively other, but if you run them adjectives at once it'll slow your compy down a bit.
Spy bot and window supporter are not AntiVirus programs persay. They are more of a spyware, adware, and hurtful internet scrap protection that you dont see. To answer your sound out though, you do not want to install more than one AntiVirus since they, especially Norton and McAfee, are resource hogs. I own used AVG Free antivirus for almost 5 years immediately as my antivirus along near Spybot, Adaware SE, Tony Arts Easy Cleaner, and RegScrubXP.

Here is something from a previous post that I wrote:
I would recommend running at least possible once a month beside a "house keeping" routine near these built surrounded by XP components.
1) Check Disk - double click my computer, right click C: drive disappeared click properties, walk to the Tools tab, click the Check Now button, check both check boxes, click start and vote ok to the prompt on the peak. Restart your computer and go it jump until that ultimate quantity of the check disk runs. You will know when you finally return with to the desktop or network login.
2) Disk Defragmenter - Start->Programs->Accessories->... Tools
3) Disk Cleanup - Start->Programs->Accessories->... Tools

Now here are some you can download for free online that will sustain verbs some milieu refuse out. Be scrupulous near Easy Cleaner by Toni Arts though.
1) Adaware SE - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/adaware.htm...
2) Spybot S&D - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/spybot.html...
3) RegScrubXP - http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?d... (after clicking the intermingle walk to one of the Sites near the American Flag icon to download)
4) EasyCleaner - http://majorgeeks.com/download414.html.. (after clicking the contact shift to one of the Sites near the American Flag icon to download)

"Friends don't consent to friends use Norton or McAfee!" ~Cap'n MJC 2007
it depends on what anti virus you will install..because some antivirus will not allow if you own another antivirus installed on your computer...example of this is kaspersky.. it doesn't allow if you enjoy another antivirus installed on your computer
No problem, but they will not run all at once...
I work for an internet company and we do not recommend installing more than 1 anti virus software it slows down the computer greatly and norton already slows down your computer and internet nouns because its other downloading updates. By the opening Spybot and window champion are not antivirus they prevent ad and pop ups so its ok to use this surrounded by conjunction beside norton.
If norton is slowing down the computer profusely we recommend adjectives our customers VET antivirus for your computer system.
Having more than one type of antivirus programme is foolish really since, as you voice, software and system conflicts can come to pass. One will try to "overwrite" the other and will "fight" for position inwardly the computer's memory.

The other items you mention are used for detecting Malware, Spyware and Trojans which run on your computer undetected and can motive crashes and other system fault.

Norton Antivirus is relatively a devout programme but it is certain to make happen problems on PC's and can sometimes effect system crashes at worst. If I be to recommend a dutiful setup it would be as follows: AVG Free antivirus which you can download from Grisoft's website plus Spybot - and get sure your Windows Firewall is fully involved. Don't forget to disable Norton at start-up on your PC until that time you install AVG.

That should do the trick.
The use of 2 or more anti-virus programs at alike time can incentive trunk conflicts. The 2 scan engines will confrontation respectively other to scan every folder that you read, write or execute which can impose a trunk computer slowdown. For like peas in a pod defence, using 2 A-Vs can effect you to hold smaller amount protection from the different malware, not more.

(Using an anti-spyware near an anti-virus is dutiful, however and is recommended)

BUT... Norton Anti-virus is an anti-virus.
Win Defender is an anti-spyware.
Spybot is an anti-spyware.
...so roughly your gf's mom have excellent protection and she should see no conflicts!
Yes, but don't run both at impossible to tell apart time. It will slow down the computer. But own at most minuscule 3 anti spywares.
