If you're trying to log onto the root information, you own to use the password associated next to the root reason.

In our information center, we don't allow root to login via an ssh session, but singular on the console (for payment reasons). We log within near our personal rationalization (via LDAP) and the /bin/su to the root details once we're on the server. This establishes who logged within and who successfully su'd to root.
