My soon to be ex stepdad told my hubby that he can track everything we do on the computer. I assume he's only trying to mete out trouble, but I want to be sure that he doesn't enjoy access to any accounts for dismay of identity robbery.

Always protect passwords. I cannot stress that ample. Can your computer be access from any other place? As far as someone tracking your leisure, they would enjoy to enjoy access to your complex drive. Basically, you're safe and sound unless they come over and gain access at your home.
