Certain PC programs (like Morpheus P2P, and MIRC) Require uPnP be enabled when connecting to the internet through a router.
What are the sanctuary and shelter concerns by doing this, and how can those concerns be alleviated?

If you manually set port-forwarding for those apps on your router next you won't want upnp.
