A "seed" is a individual who uploads stuff so the "leechers" approaching YOU can download it.
The opinion near bittorrent is that u are not downloading from a server but from other guys using bittorrent who own the required facts on their computer. You are connected beside abundant different seed and here is no problem if 1 or 2 of them are going down - plentiful others are gone to download from. You can also stop and restart ur dl as regularly as you need, you dont own to start at nothing bytes again. Thats a great advatage when downloading huge files.
@viruses: Of course near are virus sometimes. So never forget to scan your downloads near an anti-virus program. If you do that, you should not own valid problems near virus (I never have serious problems)

People DO procure caught stealing "stuff" using P2P filesharing programs such as Limewire, Kazza etc and torrents, and obverse huge fines. Don't steal stuff if ya can't afford to due the time.
