I be running Norton for years, and it be OK most of the time. But when I needed an update, I removed it and installed AVG. It found some stuff Norton have missed!
So I'd try AVG Free, or if you want, wages for it and bring back some extra features.
Norton
To choose programe for antiviruses you must consult next to the expert since you buy. What I own tried so far is Norton/AVG/Mcafree and very soon I am on Zone Alarm which is not too discouraging.
mcafee is the best. thats what i've be using for years and my computer never get into trouble.
According to my experience i surmise norton is best antivirus tool available today because norton is most widely used antivirus thus virus that are released are first traced by norton and hence if u want best warranty withcoming virus and other threats by compromising ur system perfomance use it.
for using free antivirus i trust avast.
kaspersky antivirus, it have 99.99 % virus detection.
When i get my laptop i get a virus the second daylight. Norton would not take rid of it so i call Dell. The hand at dell told me to procure rid of norton and use avast. the explanation he give me be that norton let the virus on and afterwards tries to remove it while avast is constantly scan and if it detects a threat it directly alerts you to delete it beforehand its on your computer.
I especially resembling how when i move about to a site that tries to install spyware or anything close to that a siren plays over your speakers and the blind pops up maxim its detected a virus. it also constantly runs contained by your system tray and updates virus definition every year online.
i cant say aloud anything roughly this avg but strongly recommend avast! home edition. it is also free.

AVG Anti-Virus is crap!
Mostly noobs, the innocent, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. People of their ilk love AVG because they voice it is smooth to use and almost never bothers them next to any pop-ups or warning. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it only just ever finds any virus to caution them roughly!

AVG have proven itself to be a miserable comedian at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect prearranged malware, contained by some test. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent "once-a day" updates.
AVG. = Average, at best!
There are much better free anti-virus alternatives such as Avria Anti-Vir:

and Avast:

Id prefer Kaspersky internet indemnity suite for a full prectection
