Some of the advertisement Yahoo is running is extraordinarily doomed to failure. Particularly singlesnet.com . Everytime I interested my e-mail, I'm bombarded near pictures of partially unclothed girls. My 5 year out-of-date grandson sits near me as I'm doing my computer work. Neither of us wishes to see that. How do I capture rid of it?
Answers:
You can glibly and effectivily block an unwanted advert by count it to your Windows HOSTS record. (Yes, Hosts is capitalised for some strange reason).
First, right click on the advert after click properties. Then copy th exact URL of the server that the personal ad is anyone served from.
Now:
1.Go to your HOSTS record which is located at:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ET... for window Vista and XP
C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC for Windows 2k
C:\WINDOWS for Windows 98 and ME
2. Open HOSTS next to Notepad.
The defaulting Windows HOSTS looks close to this:

# space.

3. Directly beneath the smudge that say 127.0.0.1 Localhost, you will want to type:
127.0.0.1 heading of the Ad's URL you want to block
For example to block the MySpace.com homepage (highly recommended!), simply type:
127.0.0.1 myspace.com
127.0.0.1 www.myspace.com
You may have need of to tag on sites near both near and in need the "www.". Test after blocking to formulate sure you get it right.
You can tag on as frequent sites or flier servers as you option to block within this cult. I, myself, hold over 12000 undesireable and harmful sites contained by my personal HOSTS record!
4. Close Notepad and answer "Yes" when prompted.
5. Reboot your computer and attempt to access your in a minute blocked classified ad server. You should see a Cannot find server or DNS Error truism: "The page cannot be displayed".
-----------------------------
Some populace suggest that you supply an ad-server that you need to block by tally it to Internet Explorer's Restricted Zone. This does NOT totally block a site. It will lone RESTRICT a site from positive activities such as using javascript, Active-X and Java etc.
Good luck.
you may run and download a bright network browser name Maxthon. (you can scour google or yahoo for this or go to www.maxthon.com). After the installation, please go to Tools Menu, Ad Hunter- see pop-up blocker, see web- content filter and see float ad filter. Done!. Enjoy.
It is not simple but it is possible. Everything on a page comes from somewhere. You will enjoy to know how to read html.
1. Find out where on earth the impolite ad are coming from. In your browser do a View|Source and look for where on earth the commercial is referenced within the page. Somewhere this is going to be an portrait, intent, ebmed flap that points to this resource.
<img src="
http://ad.doubleclick.net/singles4122.gi... ... />
But it probably won't be that unforced.
In this covering the representation is coming from the personal ad.doubleclick.lattice computer.
Now if your computer didn't know where on earth that be, it couldn't get hold of the statue could it.
2. Tell you computer to run somewhere else for that flier. Open up the following profile:
c:\windows\system32\drivers\et...
You will see a strip that say something resembling:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Change it to:
127.0.0.1 localhost doubleclick.net
This tell the computer to resolve doubleclick.network to IP 127.0.0.1 which is your apparatus (it is call a loopback). Your computer won't answer and serve up the clear and the page have a blank unbroken where on earth the intolerable want ad is.
I couldn't gain the commercial you mention to come up so I couldn't find out which server it comes from. Also, Yahoo might be serving up the carving themselves so you obvioulsy can not block yahoo.com so this won't work.
What make this firm presently is that so tons of these ad are flash graphics instead of simple similes. You could uninstall Flash. Even better you could go and get a different browser resembling firefox and uninstall the flash and shockwave plugins from them. You may hold to turn rotten sign loading as capably (that is within your browsers advanced settings) but that will apply to adjectives graphics and make some sites unusable. But if you did this, you could Firefox to surf Yahoo but IE to surf everywhere else.
Good luck.
