vista seem awfully slow
thanks
Answers: Depends on what you want to do.
If you want to run highest commercial applications, you're looking at selection from Microsoft and Apple.
If main commercial apps aren't a concern, next Solaris and Linux enter the see and are largely pretty hurried.
You simply hold some hardware you entail to run really brisk and applications are of no interest at adjectives, later any a custom-written or commercial real-time OS will probably be fastest. Not of much use unless you're a programmer, but fast.
Vista is a memory hog. You may be capable of speed it up by totalling more memory. 1GB is pretty much a minimum and more is better.
Darn i have an article just about 2 days support that did a speed try-out and it be found that Mac OS X (Tiger) be the fastest of the big 2..Andf after OS X (Leopard)..Leopard (the latestone that get released i believe yesterday) be pretty damn close to the speeds of its predecessor (Tiger) but be a few secs slower..Vista be one of the slowest competitors.i focus it come contained by later place. Very slow!
Granted this is firm to weigh up since Vista and Mac clutch on different duties when booting up but during the tryout they tried to be reasonable and did an assortment of test incluhding launching a bunch of apps and consequently trying to shut down.everytime Mac one out.
And btw, i am a Windows XP user and hold never owned a Mac so i am person totally impartial. Just the facts.
I hold no conception how Linux OS's compare (such as the popular Ubuntu) but i integer most nation dont use Linux (consumers i mean) and so i'd to some extent of late compare Macs and Windows.
Your OS will boot faster when you capture faster HD's and more memory and you cut fund on startup applications.
Mac OS Leopard 10.5

Win XP
Linux

I would utter those are the fastest...
Well...
I would hold to voice any Linux distribution...
But...setting it up take forever, and also It isn't for use beside inhabitants that aren't computer experts or likely to spend profusely of time on it.
But, From my experience, Mac OS X is severely fast
And window xp is right losing it.
However, I am assuming you are using a PC...
So...Mac OS X is not an prospect. Get Windows XP
You said Windows Vista. What magazine?
If Home Basic or Premium possibly you have need of 1-2GB for promptly.
If Buisness, Enterprise or Ultimate you have need of 3-5GB for promptly experience.
If solitary someone designs a system only close to Windows 98SE... its darn hastily when you install it on a Vista-compatible system. For immediately, the best even I would want to use would be XP.
Its stable, however hasty. Vista is a system resource hog. Not one and only does it call for more memory RAM space, it creates havoc next to your illustrative card, CPU and also sturdy disk. Also, increases system effective warmth; shorter components energy.
Sun's Solaris

fastest, most stable and most reliable, most protected too - most big corporations run solaris
