Answers: Linux will run on a moment ago give or take a few anything.

Recommend you remove the Hard Drive next to Windows on it and put in a unusual firm drive for linux in defence you want to run put money on.
www.google.com "yourspecificbrand linux install"

will update you what other populace hold experienced trying to install Linux, successes, and problems next to fixes.
Way more than needed to run linux. I installed mandrake eight onto a 350mhz pentium part and it run great. Lots faster than near window. Only have a 8mb video card surrounded by it.

But it never hurts to find the specs for what interpretation you want to install prior and also to create sure you can draw from linux drivers for the equipment installed.

But primarily the section is alright for most version of linux. The operating system it self requires little it is the GUI and other programs that will constraint more of the system.
Most Linux distributions hold a live disc (sometimes call a desktop CD) which loads itself into RAM, if you can I would try this first,as it allows you to see if all your hardware works properly. Although next to 256Mb of RAM, if the Desktop compact disc runs, it won't run highly quick.
