I'm looking for a Windows XP (pro SP2) program that will emulate a Linux environment. I don"t want a virtual notebook as I already enjoy one setup near Windows and Linux. I'm looking for a emulator that will allow me to run ONE Linux app from Windows. Basically I'm looking for the exact OPPOSITE of Wine Tools.
Answers: Well this might not be the answer to your question, but you could run a live disk. This would allow you to use the Linux OS on your window computer minus ever installing linux. Just call round the site for detailed instructions on how.
Hi, I really doubt that such an application exists because since Windows have most brand new software developers don't see a point in porting Linux applications or making a Linux compatibility deposit for Windows. I hope I help.
Good Luck!
Cygwin or Putty

it really depends on the application you want to run,
For command prompt solely: try cygwin or services for unix, the application sometimes wishes to be compiled (if possible), it is possible to install windowmaker on cygwin for graphics apps
If graphics or extensive libraries are needed later it's vmware or virtual notebook to install linux
if it's an undo source program near may be a window version
