I'm trying to try out ubuntu 7.10 and my DVD burner isn't cooperating. Can i put the carving onto a USB knob?

I don't mull over it would be, as nearby would requirement to be an operating system to run daemon tools (or doesn`t matter what iso program you use).
You could try setting up a USB boot disk (go to www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm) and copying the contents of the ubuntu disk photograph onto the USB disk than booting to USB (you may obligation to friendly up the BIOS settings and see USB booting).
