I've tried almost everything to making the font smaller and trying to lay it out as a book. Nothing works. Can anyone aid me?

Not a honourable belief using PowerPoint to do this trick
But you can cheat by using primer boxes so that it would look resembling within a column. But it would not be nice reading tiny correspondence.
Insert set book boxes vertically and insert the stanzas that will fit the box.
I guess the merely bearing to do it would be to grow less your font size.. as it if truth be told comes up fine when you run it in slideshow.
