How Do I Create Drop-Down Lists in Excel?

I've read more or less background validation, but I must be missing something.

I own a spreadsheet of New Jersey Devils' games for respectively season. I'd approaching to know how to create a drop-down menu at the top of respectively column so I can isolate things. I've see it on other spreadsheets, but I cannot duplicate it.
