I own an eMachines W3609 computer and it have Windows Vista on it. I downgraded it to Windows XP SP2 and in a minute my speakers wont work. In the divice manger I within the "nouns, video and spectator sport controller" and contained by one of the sub icon that appear say SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC and have a round, ashen exclamation point subsequent to it. I right click and click on properties, and it says
This device is gone down properly because Windows cannot nouns the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
I click on troubleshoot and it doesn't do anything.
I know this be a bit long but if anybody can support me I'd really appreciate it.
Answers: Try going to the nouns card manufacturer net site, they should enjoy downloadable drivers at hand.
You want to budge to the emachines website and look for the model similar to yours, probably a model number right below yours, and download and install the SigmaTel HD Audio drivers for WindowsXP.
Try the W3507

It may or may not work. It appears that the SigmaTel HD Audio systems be made for Windows Vista systems. I even tried the Sigmatel website, they do not contribute drivers nearby.
If this is an Onboard Sound Controller, your singular option would be to disable it within the bios, and walk out and purchase a plug-n-play nouns card next to WindowsXP Drivers, if the above driver does not work.
Good Luck
