Darn Excel!! I entail a formula to know how to average information from a secure cell on three different worksheet.?

I hold 3 worksheets and one "Total" sheet. I have need of to lift the information from the first three for example within cell D4 and attach them together and find the average. I know how to do the function on one sheet but cant give the impression of being to capture it to work when i do more than one sheet. HELP! Work related. My career and enthusiasm depends on it. LOL Just kid, but gratitude for adjectives the sustain.
