I am trying to run Ubuntu on my system but I don't want to install it because I did a while ago and have problems. I want to run it as a virtual operating system, but still know how to pick up files (you know if I type something I want to know how to accumulate it). Can I do something resembling that? What program would I use and how would I do it?
Answers: You're a window user, right?
Get virtualbox:
http://www.virtualbox.org/download/1.5.2...
When you install it, you might draw from some stipulation from window maxim something similar to:
"Windows cannot detect if this software is compatible... Driver signing... Blah, blah, blah"
But a short time ago hang on to hitting "continue" window is only self stupid.
After it's installed, create a brand new virtual piece of equipment, and a trial virtual concrete disk, and allocate just about 256mb of RAM to the virtual apparatus. (If you can spare it)
Download the ubuntu 7.10 iso and mount it within the virtual Cd drive. start the virtual apparatus and study it install

Works great you can drag n' drop files from your Virtual Machine onto your regular desktop.
You could also fashion use of the free VMWare Player to run virtual machines.
Take a look at
http://johnbokma.com/vmware-player/creat... for instructions on how to create descriptions for VMWare Player. (Creation of bright machines is not really supported in VMWare Player; that function is more reserved for other VMWare products).
