I converted the 3 of my Lord of the Rings dvd's to avi files using total video converter. I tried doing one and the same near my Harry Potter DvD's but it wont allow it. Can someone please notify me why this is?

Answers: Maybe that converter not support such DVD, try to find another DVD Ripper to enjoy a try.
